Diaper dermatitis gone fast bad?

My daughter is 8 mths old. I'm very careful to change their as often as possible and keep it out dry air for as long as I can. Last Friday night had a little red in the ass and put KY Jelly on it. It was 23:00 when for the first time realized (and was not there when I had changed before) and we had no diaper rash cream. Saturday came around and in the morning, her skin seemed cracked / sore.
