Herpes is a disease that affects millions of Americans every day. In fact one in five people have genital herpes, and eight out of ten have oral herpes or herpes you get lipstick on her lips every few months. So it's basically the same thing.
Genital herpes is caused by a strain of virus called herpes simplex HSV-2. Its symptoms vary from a truly remarkable good blister on and around the genitals to red like a rash to nothing at all. People often are unaware of their genital herpes because the symptoms are very mild or nonexistent.
Oral herpes is caused by a strain of herpes simplex virus called HSV-1. Your symptoms may be nonexistent. In fact, 80% of the population has the disease, but many do not "know they are carriers without symptoms. People who have symptoms usually show redness or blisters on the lips and inside their mouths, and report a tingling or burning sensation before symptoms manifest.
Genital herpes is much more prominent in the population, then most people think because people do not realize how easy it is to capture and transmit. Whether they have symptoms or can not spread the disease to your partner or vice versa. Also, unlike other sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia, that can be transmitted with the use of a condom as it can be transmitted through skin to skin contact rather than to be transmitted through fluids. This creates an easily transmitted disease, which is not curable and spread rapidly through communities.
There is no cure or vaccine for either HSV-1 or HSV-2, because if you get infected you have it for life and limit their partners and always tell a new partner about your illness. There is hope, however, new anti-viral medications can reduce the virus, which shoots far and few, and make them much less painful. While not a cure for herpes certainly does not help.
Herpes has been around for a very long time and is not going anywhere part in the short term. In fact, herpes and many other sexually transmitted diseases has been increasing every year and with the behavior of people do not seem that much could we can then educate others.
The only real way to be safe from the disease is to practice safe sex, no sex, and staying with a couple and time, fidelity. I can not tell how many people say. That's not going to happen and then see them in my office asking what happened and how their lives have changed forever.
