movie guru needed!?

a few years ago I saw a movie where you establish preapocolyptic, and foreigners have launched a disease in humanity, and there are millions infected. It causes a purple rash covering the whole body. Then theres a magnetosphere Solarflare and wipes away from Earth causeing all harmful radiation to pass through the atomsphere. The man discovers that the disease was not a disease but actally helps them survive because purple skin reflects all harmful rays … I'm not sure I saw this movie … but theres a slight chance that he could dream …. any help is greatly appreciated! thanks!
