I have been diagnosed with Graves and Hashimoto, can someone explain how you can have both?

My doctor did all the tests and confirmed that I have both. I have all the symptoms of Graves, irregular heart beat, can not maintain weight loss, rashes, trouble sleeping, I always feel hyper, yet I take the synthroid …? I do not understand.

In the simplest terms, your body has become immune to produce thyroid hormones. His body is trying to make is making a crazy amount of hormones, which is not good for your body. It is possible that you may need for your thyroid removed by radiation … If that happens, you will have to take a pill for the rest of your life that makes a synthetic thyroid hormone. It is also possible that your thyroid can make a recovery, but it depends on your body. I went through something like this when I started college and was the hardest days of my life. I was very lucky, but I have to keep my thyroid. Best of luck to you.
