Diagnosing skin rashes
I have a skin condition in patches over the years, what is?

I have some rashes on the legs that have been there for almost six years. I went to the doctor. He put my leg up a special light and said it was fungus. He was diagnosed as dermatitis, and prescribed Cortizone recipe that I used as indicated by a few weeks and did not help. These patches are pale red, thicker than the surrounding skin, scaly looking, very itchy sometimes, and sometimes not. My skin in general is very dry and sensitive, and the rash is only in my lower legs. I wear pants most of the time. However, even when I went to bed tanning, the condition was no better than it is now. Patches bounce a lot. I started to get very small stains in the thighs and torso. I have no idea what it is. My boyfriend has psoriasis, and seems to state, but not so serious. Just a morphology (appearance) that is similar. I will be grateful for any advice you can get. Hopefully someone has had a similar problem. Thank you.

I have eczema, and I think I have the same thing. Welcome! The other person is right, the cream prescribed to you could not be right for you. However, eczema can be a lifelong condition – consisting of flares and recessions (That does not mean it will disappear completely, mind you) – some grow out of (but which became, bleh). It is a very individual condition, but things may "need are: 1. A good moisturizer 2. possibly a steroid cream / ointment that is sure not to abuse because their skin may thin-term oral steroids may be long do harm to your system, but used in the short term may be unhelpful. I do not think yours sounds so serious. These patches break may also be due to environmental causes, such as soaps, detergents, and shampoos that you are using too. You can try different soaps with fewer chemicals and see if you notice any change (Ie, Castile soap or shampoo free of liens or items Ecover). Finally, a second opinion does not hurt. A combination of dermatologists I finally have to throw my Suave shampoo after they developed allergic contact dermatitis (atopic dermatitis in addition to already have!) to it. :) Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions (if you think I can help, heh)!
