Lamictal question – I have a rash, but havent had changes in medications. Prob just skin allergy?
I've been on Lamictal for 2 + years. Little by little, today I've developed a rash around the lips and just realized it's starting near my eye. I was in the Dominican Republic for another thing this morning and said just to put Vaseline on it, but I was blowing it anyway, so do not trust your eyes. My mood is really out, I'm a little dizzy, and I have a rash. But again, I'm eating new things, I'm in a new country, and a lot of new things. Anyway, I just want to make sure I have reason to think that this is not Stephen Johnson "I have not since had any change in medicine, etc. Thanks
The rash is a known side effect of Lamictal (lamotrigine), but having been there for two years this is probably not the case. severe skin rash also may be more likely to occur if you are taking Lamictal with valproic acid (Depakene) or divalproex (Depakote). I know that the doctor recommended Vaseline But I would be inclined to use an antibiotic cream that is available by prescription and in the counter.
